Dale Krings
Dale Thomas Krings, 68, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away September 6, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.
Dale was born April 1, 1958, in Lexington to Alfred and Reva Jean (Fitzsimmons) Krings. The fourth of seven children, Dale was raised in Lexington, attended St. Ann’s School and graduated with the Class of 1976. Lexington remained his home throughout his entire life.
Dale was easy-going, almost always smiling, and truly never knew a stranger. He enjoyed driving around town, stopping at Mac’s Shortstop or Walmart, and visiting with the familiar faces he encountered along the way. Dale didn’t need to travel far to enjoy life. He was happiest in the community he knew, surrounded by familiar people and places.
Throughout his working years, Dale held several jobs in the Lexington area, including at the Wax Shop, Platte Valley Auto Mart, Landmark Implement and Heartland Chevrolet. He had a special knack for detailing cars and tractors and took pride in making them shine.
Dale was a devoted Husker sports fan, especially when it came to football, and spent many hours watching television at home. He appreciated life’s simple pleasures—a Diet Coke, a honey bun, a drive around town and a conversation with someone he knew.
For 14 years, one of Dale’s most constant companions was his beloved dog, Daisy. She was rarely far from his heart and was an important part of his everyday life. Daisy passed away near the time of Dale’s death, bringing some comfort to his family in imagining the two companions together again.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Reva Jean Krings; his sister, Linda Albers; and his beloved Daisy.
He is survived by his wife, Lana; his siblings, Glenn (Mary) Krings of Bellevue, Nebraska, Laurae (Frank) Magana of Lexington, Nebraska, Roy Krings and special friend Tami Johnson of Kearney, Nebraska, Jan Wiley of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Tony (Martha) Krings of Council Bluffs, Iowa; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
In accordance with Dale’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. His family is honoring those wishes and will gather privately at a later date to lay his ashes to rest in Elm Creek, Nebraska.
Memorials, if desired, may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association in Dale’s memory.
Dale lived a simple life, but one filled with familiar faces, favorite routines and a community he loved. Those who knew him will remember his easy-going nature, his smile and the friendly face they could count on seeing around Lexington.
Dean Kjar
LINCOLN — Dean Robert Kjar, 62, of Wood River died on Sunday April 19, 2020, at Tabitha Journey House in Lincoln.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
Lincoln Alternative Mortuary in Lincoln is in charge of arrangements.

Dean was born to Carl J. and Lea (Gillen) Kjar of Lexington on Oct. 29, 1957. He graduated from St. Ann’s High School in 1976, and enlisted in the Marine Corps following his graduation. He completed his basic training at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, Calif. Duty stations included Yokosuka, Japan and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He was medically discharged with Crohn’s disease in 1979 and later received permanent retirement status from the Marine Corps.
He married Pamela Shellhammer of Loveland, Colo., on Dec. 15, 1979. Forty years of marriage produced two daughters, Beth Kjar of Minneapolis and Laura (Jeff) McQuinn of Grand Island.
Following his service to our country, Dean and Pam farmed in the Lexington area until relocating to Colorado in 1983. Dean obtained his master plumber license in Colorado while working for Allen’s Plumbing and Heating. In 1992 Dean and his family returned to Nebraska and established Double D Plumbing and Heating in Wood River. Dean thoroughly enjoyed his work because he loved meeting and working with the people of the Wood River community.
Dean was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wood River, and he was active in the Wood River Community Choir, the St. Mary’s parish, and the St. Mary’s music ministry. He volunteered to serve on various civic committees and organizations, including the Hall County Regional Planning Commission and the Wood River Centennial Community Foundation, and was a past board member of the Wood River Community Club.
In 2013, Dean was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (M.S.); in connection with his M.S treatments, in January of 2020, Dean was diagnosed with a brain infection called progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML).
Two of Dean’s favorite mottos that he embraced wholeheartedly included “If you’re going to be up, you might as well be happy” and “Control the controllables.” Dean was an avid sports fan, and he shared his knowledge through coaching youth sports and officiating middle and high school activities. His favorite hobbies included camping, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters; a son-in-law; and two grandsons, Ryker and Graham McQuinn; his three sisters, Sherry (Terry) Christensen, Jan (Bill) Jacquot, and Kathy (Dave) Hofferber; his mother-in-law, Patricia Trostel; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his two older brothers, Ken Kjar and Rollie Kjar, and his father-in-law Wally Shellhammer.
Memorials can be sent to the National M.S. Society, the Wood River Centennial Community Foundation, or the family.
Eileen Wilson
Eileen Marie Wilson, age 65 of Ozark, passed away February 5, 2024. She was born July 6, 1958 in Grand Island, Nebraska, the daughter of Gerald and Alyce (Lujon) Miller.Survivors include: her children, Gabriel Browning and wife Allyson of Ozark, Shauna Coleman and husband Brandon of Edgewater, Maryland, William Browning and wife May of Ava and Molly Wilson of Ozark; grandchildren, Aubrey and Zoey Browning, Millie Cole, and Theodore and Myah Browning; sisters Pat Pfeiffer and husband Dale of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeri Kyle and husband Carl of Lexington, Nebraska, and her younger brother Richard Miller of Denver, Colorado.Eileen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Larry Wilson, and both parents.Eileen enjoyed spending time on the lake bass fishing with her husband Larry, working crossword puzzles, and crocheting. Eileen lived for her grandchildren, and was a fervent advocate for the Autism and Down Syndrome communities.Cremation rites will be accorded Adams Crematory, Ozark and arrangements are under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
