Chris Burmood

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved family member, Christopher Shawn Burmood, 59, on August 6, 2026.

Chris was born on April 14, 1967, in Lexington, Nebraska, the second of three children born to Dennis and Jo (Milhoan) Burmood. He was preceded by his older sister, Kimi Jo, and followed by his younger brother, Ben.

Chris graduated from Lexington High School in 1985 and attended the University of Nebraska in Kearney and later the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, where he studied Landscape Architecture. He spent his career in construction and was considered an excellent framer and contractor, taking great pride in his work. On February 2, 1991, Chris married his high school sweetheart, Deanna Beth Jordening. During his senior year, they were honored as their school's Homecoming King and Queen. Together, they had three beautiful children: Hali, Zach, and Jaden.

Chris will be remembered as a fun-loving, adventurous, and caring person who brought energy and laughter wherever he went. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and golf, and he had a special passion for horse racing. Chris loved sports and was an accomplished motocross racer and skier/ slalom skier. His adventurous spirit and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed.

Chris is survived by his son, Zach of Lincoln; his daughter, Jaden of Lincoln; his mother, Jo of Lexington; his sister, Kimi of Lexington; his brother, Ben (Laura) of Lincoln; his niece, Frankie Jo, and nephew, Blake, both of Lincoln; and his longtime companion, Julie of Lincoln. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Hali; his father, Dennis; and his grandparents, Bobby and Sheridan (Tex) Burmood and Vera and Beverly (Bud) Milhoan. Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
