Cynthia Gibbons

Cynthia A. Gibbons, 68 of Kearney passed away Friday, May 9, 2025 at St. John’s Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney with Pastor Doug Gaunt officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Creek Cemetery. Visitation and reception will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Cynthia was born April 23, 1957 in Lexington, NE to Wilber and Hilda (Schultze) Vos. She was raised in Lexington and received her education from Lexington High School, graduating with the class of 1975. On December 29, 1982, Cynthia was united in marriage to Gary L. Gibbons in Grand Island, NE. She was the long-time Office Manager of Ace Irrigation.

Cynthia enjoyed sewing and crocheting, bowling, camping, gardening, tending to her flowers and being outdoors. She loved all animals, especially cats and she always looked forward to traveling and taking her next vacation. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kassandra (Brian) Nolan of Columbus, NE, Michele (Mike) Baxter of Kearney, Carrie (Mike) Branson of Wichita, KS, and Shannon (Jeff) Sonneveldt of Wichita, KS; grandchildren, Mandy (Spencer) Hinrichs, Alexis (Gearg) Schirmer, Austin and Adam Branson, Dylon Baxter, Ethan Sonneveldt, Alex (Failynn) Weiss; great grandchildren, Brynn Hinrichs, Adelynn and Anderson Schirmer; brothers, Robert Vos of Kearney and Donald (Elizabeth) Vos of Evansville, IN; sister-in-law, Brenda Oliver of Kearney; as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gary Gibbons; sister-in-law, Kimberly Vos; and brother-in-law, Marlin Gibbons.
