Chuck Eldridge

Charles J. “Chuck” Eldridge, 61, of Lexington, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Cozad Care and Rehabilitation Center, in Cozad.

A Memorial Graveside Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington with Pastor A.L. Cole officiating.

The family honored Chuck’s wishes for cremation. There will be no visitation

Chuck was born Sept. 9, 1955, in Lexington to Everett “Peewee” and Betty (Jenkins) Eldridge.

He was raised in Lexington and was a member of the Lexington High School class of 1973. In his young adulthood Chuck was injured in a diving accident. Doctors told him he would never walk again, but through pure determination, and hard work, he regained his ability to walk.

Chuck was married to Carolyn Greathouse on Oct. 4, 1974, to this union two daughters were born, Hope and Shannon. The couple later divorced.

Throughout his life Chuck worked at several types of jobs; including, carnivals, construction, and landscaping. During his time as a “Carnie” in Colorado he met his former life partner, Stacy Johnson. The couple had two children together, Charlie and Chelsea. Chuck and Stacy moved back to Lexington to raise their family.

He enjoyed spending time with family, being on a pool league, Fantasy Nascar, pitching horseshoes, and being with friends. He also helped with Boy Scouts, Troop No. 144.

Chuck is survived by his mother, Betty (Bill) Slack of Brady; grandfather, Gerald Shadduck of Lexington; daughters, Hope (Ross) Umphrey and Shannon (Eric) Winsenberg of Anchorage, Alaska; son, Charlie (Michelle) Eldridge of Cozad; daughter, Chelsea of North Platte; 12 grandchildren, Katie, David, Megan, Jessie, Morgan, Aubree, Lauren, Bristol, Baylee, Tessa, Cody, and Riley; two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Bryson; also surviving are his brothers, Gary (Jami) Roeder of North Platte and Jay (Maria) Puryear of Hanahan, S. C. Gerald (Rhonda) Puryear of Carrollton, Texas; sister, Doris; and, mother of Charlie and Chelsea, Stacy Johnson of Lexington, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.

Chuck was preceded in death by his father Peewee; grandparents, Archie and Minnie Eldridge; grandmother, Bethel Shadduck, brother Ray, and nephew, Gerald, Jr.

Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

Kerry Hunt

Kerry Jo Hunt, 49, of Lexington died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at her home after a long battle with cancer in Lexington. Her family was by her side.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington. Pastor Joe Masten will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington. Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.
It was Kerry's wish that her body be cremated.
She was born in Lexington on Nov. 22, 1954, to Howard Dean and Lila Lee (Hill) Wood.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Hunt of Lexington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bradley and Michelle Sheets of Grand Island and Tyler Hunt of Lexington; and three daughters and a son-in-law, Amanda and Erick Reitz of North Platte; Bridgette Hunt of Guymon, Okla., and Rebekah Hunt of Lexington; her parents, Howard and Lila Wood of Lexington; and one brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Teresa Wood of Columbus.
Other survivors include three grandchildren, Autumn and Mickayla Sheets of Grand Island and Annika Reitz of North Platte; two nieces, Kelly and husband Jason Meridith of Columbus and Brandy Wood of Omaha; two aunts, Ila and husband Bill Dillard of Indio, Calif., and JoAnn Newton of Lexington; one uncle, Robert and wife Bonnie Hill of Riverton, Wyo., and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Marvin and Jo Hunt of Lexington.
She was expecting a new grandson anytime.
She graduated from Lexington High School in 1973. In June of 1973, she entered the United States Army on the Delayed Entry Program. She took her training at Ft. McClellan, Ala.
She then was stationed in Massachusetts in ASA Security. While in Massachusetts, she met and married Dean Sheets of Cozad. They were married on Dec. 29, 1973. To this union two children were born, Amanda Lee Sheets and Bradley Dean Sheets.
In March of 1974, she received a medical discharge and returned to Lexington. Later she and Dean were divorced.
In 1989, she met Mark Hunt and they were married on June 23, 1990. To this union two children were born, Rebekah Joellen Hunt and Tyler Joseph Hunt.
Kerry was employed at Sunmart and was on medical leave at the time of her death.
In 2000, Mark and Kerry and their family joined the Calvary Assembly of God Church. They were baptized in February of 2001. Kerry was very active in the children's programs at the church.
Kerry was a very special daughter, wife and mother. She leaves behind many friends and family, also her Church family, they were very special to her. She will be dearly missed. Kerry's father will be unable to attend her service due his own illness.
Preceding her in death are her grandparents, Albert and Gertrude Wood and Howard and Irene Hill; a special cousin, Rhonda Stanley; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Stephen Mingus

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Stephen Earl Mingus, age 69, a beloved brother, friend and neighbor passed away at the Lexington Hospital. He lost his two year battle with MDS and finally leukemia complicated by pneumonia.

Steve graduated with LHS Class of 1973, then studied at both UNK and UNL. He was a talented contractor, especially know for building many beautiful cabins and homes around Johnson Lake and the surrounding area.

Steve had a gentle spirit, a notable sense of humor and a heart that guided his honesty, fairness and practicality.

He enjoyed his friendships as his extended family and was always lending a helping hand. He loved experimenting with recipes, watching Nebraska football and completing cabin repairs.

Steve is survived by his sister, Christy Appleton, her husband Jim, his nephews Kevin and Keith Appleton and nieces Holly White and Katie Bohnhoff. All of his immediate family live in Washington State.

A celebration of life gathering is intended to take place this spring. A location at Johnson Lake will be chosen where Steve lived most of his life.

Barbara Ourada

Barbara Gene Livingston Ourada, 53, of Glendale, Arizona, formerly of Lexington and Grand Island, died Saturday, August 16, 2008, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. She was born November 14, 1954, in Fremont, Nebraska to Earnie "Bill" and Delores (Spencer) Livingston. Barbara attended school in Cedar Bluffs, Oconto and Lexington and graduated from Lexington High School in 1973. The last eight years she has worked for AmericaWest and U.S. Airways in Phoenix, Arizona after college at Rio Salado, Arizona.
Survivors include her children: Jamie (Chris) Brazil of Ponopak, Arizona, Justin (Wanda) Ourada of Glendale, Arizona, Her parents: Earnie "Bill" and Delores Livingston of Lexington, Nebraska. Three brothers: Michael Livingston of Juniata, Nebraska Richard (Linda) Livingston of Grand Island, Nebraska Robert Livingston of Atwater, California.
She is also survived by her grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her son, Jason; her grandparents, her sister, Tresa and aunts and uncles.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Lexington Christian Church with Pastor Kyron C. BeDunnah officiating. There will be no visitation.
