Norma Bappe

Norma Jean Bappe, 78, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton, Wyoming.     

Norma Jean Henderson was born September 9, 1934, to Ross and Faye (Goedert) Henderson in Lexington, Nebraska. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1952. She lived in and around Lexington her entire life with the exception of the last three weeks when she moved to Riverton, Wyoming and Help for Health Hospice.

She married Robert "Bob" Bappe on September 29, 1953, and had two children; Michael and Mark. After 55 years of marriage, Bob passed away in 2008. Norma spent 10 years with Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator and it was while at this job that she and Bob met. Bob was a clerk with the Union Pacific Railroad and they often spoke on the phone as Bob was making long-distance business calls.     

Norma enjoyed people. She was easy to be with and enjoyed living a simple, frugal life. One of her great pleasures was digging up an old coin found using her metal detector, another was discovering a piece of depression glass at a garage sale. She spent much of her life volunteering with the hospital auxiliary, Red Cross and was a mentor at the Morton/Sandoz Elementary for many years. The latter gave her special pleasure and she often spoke about the children that she hoped to have positively influenced. Her two boys were in the center of her heart and she was always their cheerleader. She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church.     

Her mother, father and only sibling, Duane Henderson also preceded her in death.     

Survivors include her two children Mike, his wife Sandra of rural Cozad, NE and Mark and his wife Becky of rural Riverton, WY. She had four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a special nephew, Greg Henderson and wife Kathy of Kearney, NE.     

Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Lexington, Nebraska with Pastor Duane Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington. Visitation will be held Friday, April 19, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington. Ron Bossung

Ronald D. Bossung, 79, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014, at CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska.

Ron was born June 8, 1935, in Lexington, Nebraska, to Clifford and Berdena (Decker) Bossung. He was a 1952 graduate of Lexington High School and went on to further his education at Hastings College. On March 8, 1956, he joined the United States Navy, serving his Country, until being honorably discharged on March 2, 1962. He then received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Nebraska.

He was united in marriage to Leslie Banta. Two sons were born to this marriage, Michael and Scott. The marriage later ended in divorce. He then married LaJean (Soucie) Foged on January 3, 1979, in Yankton, South Dakota. Jean’s three children were welcomed to the family; Michael, Marcia and Michelle.

Agriculture was Ron’s love and he spent his entire career either running Dawson County Feed Products or farming. He retired from farming in 2001. Ron was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Ron was a collector, enjoyed traveling, his afternoon coffee group, and wintering in Arizona. His greatest love
though was spending time with the family and following the grandchildren’s sporting and activity events.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and a true kindness and touched many hearts.

Ron is survived by his wife, LaJean Bossung of Lexington, Nebraska; their children, Michael (Debra) Bossung of Mesa, Arizona, Scott (Otilla Delgado) Brotherson of Chandler, Arizona, Michael (Holly) Foged of Glendale, Arizona, Marcia (Matthew) Hooker of Broomfield, Colorado, and Michelle (Richard) Seberger, III of Lexington, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren, Jacob Bossung of Mesa, Arizona, Zachary Bossung of Mesa, Arizona, Christian Brotherson of Chandler, Arizona, Holden Brotherson of Chandler, Arizona, Clay Brown of Glendale, Arizona, Adaline Brown of Glendale, Arizona, Ashley (Stewart) Clouse of Dallas, Texas, Brooke Bellamy of Columbus, Ohio, Chelsey (Ryan) Kulhanek of Minden, Nebraska, Tori Seberger of Kearney, Nebraska, Kathleen (Andrew) Ostrom of Lynchburg, Virginia, R.J. Seberger and fiancee’ Taylor Shotkoski of Lexington, Nebraska; seven great-grandchildren; extended family and many friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Leah McNeal; aunts, uncles and one cousin.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Lexington with Reverend Dyton Owen officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 27, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.

Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.

Memorials are suggested to Heartland Military Museum, Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, First United Methodist Church or the Donor’s Choice.

Dorner, Marie J. (Jan)

May 11, 1934 - Aug 3, 2011 Preceded in death by husband: John Dorner; daughter: Melodee Martinez; sister Donna Brandenberg, brothers Billy Adams and Homer Seldon 'Bud' Adams.

Survived by children: Michelle (Mark) Routt, Mike Dorner, Marcella (Bruce) Barton, Mark (Joann) Dorner, 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother: Harold Adams; host of friends.

Dale Dyer

W. Dale Dyer was born in Elwood, Neb. He grew up in Lexington, Neb., graduated from Lexington High School with the Class of 1952 and received a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Nebraska, and a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Santa Clara.

Dale married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Temple, and they had two children: a son, Mike Dyer, and a daughter, Peggy Knowles.

For several years after graduation, Dale worked as an engineer for General Dynamics in San Diego, Calif., doing work on some of the early space technology. However, the state of Oregon was where he and Carolyn really wanted to raise their family, where they could enjoy fishing and hunting and the beautiful outdoors, so they moved to Corvallis.     

Not finding much space research going on in Corvallis, Dale decided to start a business of his own, so he established Double D Contractors Inc., and Double D Realty Inc., and started building and selling homes and small commercial buildings. For the next 40 years, he worked as a builder and developer of properties in the Corvallis, Albany and Philomath areas. He was a part of the original development of the Timberhill subdivision in northwest Corvallis.     

Dale was always an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhusker football team, and rarely missed a chance to talk to anyone who would listen about his favorite team.     

Dale is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Beth Dyer; by his daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Thad Knowles; and by three brothers, Dallas, Marvin and Orin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. To his great delight, 10 grandchildren and six-great-grandchildren called him "Grandpa."     

A memorial service will take place at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at First Christian Church in Corvallis.
