Eileen Lauby, 98, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Mt Carmel Home in Kearney, Nebraska.
Eileen was born on January 31, 1924, in Overton, Nebraska to Nick and Elizabeth (Wengler) Thinnes. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1942. On November 29, 1944, Eileen married her sweetheart, Clinton W. Lauby at the Immaculate Conception Church in Elm Creek, Nebraska. Eleven children were blessed to this union: Gerald, Ronald, Thomas, E. Nick, Richard, John, Mary Lou, Elizabeth, Patrick, William, and Baby Lauby.
Eileen spent her time working on the family farm and raising her children. After her husband’s death in 1971, Eileen began working a series of different jobs. She worked at Barmores as a pharmacy assistant, she also worked at the Tri-County Hospital in the house keeping department. She went on to work for the State of Nebraska Nutrition Program where she taught low-income mothers how to manage their money, cooking, and learning how to stretch a meal. At one point Eileen began working for the Dawson County Court House for social services for several years through the Green Thumb Program. Eventually, she went on to the Dawson County Historical Museum as a research director before retiring.
Eileen was a skilled seamstress. She could quilt, crochet, sew and embroider. She was known to sew her daughters’ beautiful dresses and would sew her son’s their shirts. She was great at canning food and would go on to teach her children to do the same. Although cooking was not her favorite thing to do, she was quite the chef in the kitchen. Every Saturday afternoon she would make her children hamburgers and always fried the best chicken. In her later years, Eileen had picked up reading, collecting angels, and going on nice walks. Eileen was a serious chocolate lover. She always kept a stash of chocolate in her house whenever she had a sweet tooth. In later years, her children made sure that she would have a hidden container of chocolate in her room whenever she needed a treat. It wasn’t unusual for her to give up chocolate for lent! She also loved traveling. She traveled to so many memorable places including Alaska, Washington D.C., and California. She even went on a few girl trips to Las Vegas. She was always ready to have a good time.
Left to celebrate her life are her children, Gerald W. Lauby, of Genoa, Nebraska, Ronald (Linda Ellingson) Lauby, of Oconto, Nebraska, Thomas Lauby of Lexington, Nebraska, E. Nick (Pam) Lauby of Lexington, Nebraska, Richard (Kathy) Lauby of Kingston, Utah, John (Pam) Lauby of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mary Lou (Mark) Hueftle of Lincoln, Nebraska, Elizabeth “Liz” (Richard) Cooney of Overton, Nebraska, Patrick Lauby of Lexington, Nebraska and William “Bill” Lauby of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; sister-in-law, Margaret Skelton of Laguna Beach, California, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Baby Lauby, daughter-in-law, Marie Lauby, grandson, Johnny Lauby, nine sisters and four brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Father Jose Chavez officiating. The service will be live-streamed via the Reynolds-Love Funeral Home Facebook Page.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with a Rosary to follow at 7 p.m.
Interment will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Lexington, Nebraska.

Dolores D. Knispel, 94, of Lincoln, formerly of Eddyville, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2019 in Lincoln.
Dolores was born on March 14, 1925 to Niels and Lydia (Struempler) Kopf on the family ranch at Buffalo, Nebraska.
She attended elementary school at Buffalo First Lutheran and then high school in Lexington where she graduated with the class of 1942. She married Alfred Knispel on March 22, 1944 in Buffalo. Four children were blessed to this union: Cliff, Garlyn, Curt and Jim.
Dolores was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church at Buffalo having been baptized, confirmed and married there. She was a self-taught artist; she loved to travel, sew and enjoyed seeing things grow like flowers and trees. She especially enjoyed fishing and was awarded a Master Angler award in 2018. It was important to her to keep her hands busy.
Dolores loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, Cliff and wife Shirlee, Garlyn Beeman, Curt and wife Linda and Jim; eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alfred; all of her siblings, Gerry, Don, Ferd, Aaron Kopf and Arlene Zwick and son-in-law, Ken Beeman.
A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First Christ Lutheran Cemetery near Oconto, Nebraska with Pastor Victor Rasmussen, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo.

Dalen “Dale” Hilbert Kopf, 94, of Buffalo passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Cozad Community Hospital.
Dale was born May 21, 1924 at the family home at Buffalo to Walter William and Mary (Neben) Kopf. He graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1942. Dale was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod and attended First Lutheran Church at Buffalo his entire life. Dale was united in marriage to LaVonne Knaggs in 1948, seventy years ago, and they settled on the home place at Buffalo. To this union five sons were born; Darrell, Robert, Phil, Jack and Fred.
Dale farmed and ranched his entire life. Dale was well respected by his family, friends and neighbors. He was known as a helpful and friendly neighbor. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dale is survived by his wife, LaVonne of Buffalo; sons, Darrell and wife Linda of Buffalo, Phil and wife Jana of Buffalo, Jack and wife Marlea of Lincoln and Fred of Overton; nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended and many friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert Wayne; siblings, Alfred Kopf, Hilda Kiesow, Lorraine Teetor and Walter Dean Kopf.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo with Pastor Victor Rasmussen, officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Interment will be in First Lutheran Church Cemetery at Buffalo.

Alice L. Klauz, 89, of Kearney, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Mt. Carmel Home Keens Memorial in Kearney.
She was born May 21, 1925, in Shelton, Nebraska, to Walter and Hazel (Russell) Meusch. She lived in Shelton until the 8th grade, when her family moved to Lexington. Alice was a 1942 graduate of Lexington High School.
Alice was united in marriage to Joseph G. Klauz on May 24, 1943, in Lexington. Four children were blessed to this marriage; Bob, Betty, Rick and Merry.
Always busy, Alice cared for the elderly and needy and cleaned houses for various residents. She worked at the Hollingsworth Motel in Lexington, Plectron Corporation in Overton for 18 years, Daylight Donuts and Karre City Bakery.
Alice enjoyed people and loved spending time with the children when they were small by helping with the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts and being a member of the PTA. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Nebraska Women’s Bowling Association for 22 years, Penny Pinchers Extension Club for over 50 years, and a monthly card club.
She shared her talent with others by teaching crocheting for the Community College in Overton and Sumner, and taking on students with private lessons. She also enjoyed quilting, reading and country music concerts.
Alice will always be remembered for her kind ways, her infectious smile and her love for her family.
Survivors include two sons; Bob Klauz of Kearney, Nebraska; and, Rick Klauz and Linda Guill of Lexington, Nebraska; one daughter, Merry and husband Larry Johnson of Grand Island, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; Daniel and wife Stephanie Jensen of Omaha, Nebraska; Derek and wife Michelle Mullin of Kearney, Nebraska; Nicole and husband Jim Peterson of Axtell, Nebraska; Angela Johnson of Omaha, Nebraska; Steven Johnson of Simi Valley, California; Kristin and husband Matt Boucher of Murdock, Nebraska; Russ and wife Lisa Guill of Lincoln, Nebraska; ten great-grandchildren; Lexi Klauz-Rohde, Austin Boucher, Jakob Boucher, Sarah Jensen, Karson Peterson, Keegan Peterson, Lorien Guill, Lorelei Guill, Brody & Bentley Mullin; brother, Richard Meusch of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and sister, Thelma Dodson of Corpus Christi, Texas; as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph on December 21, 1967; daughter, Betty Jensen on June 9, 2011; grandson, Ryan Guill on April 17, 2006; two brothers, Oliver and Leonard Meusch; and one sister, Georgia Gillette.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 31, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with Reverend Neal Nollette celebrating.
Burial will be in St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery at Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to Lexington Volunteer Fire Department.

Elizabeth “Liz” Warner, 93, of Lexington, Nebraska, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016, at CHI Good Samaritan-Kearney.
She was born September 24, 1922, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to John and Charlotte (Sinner) Reinhardt. She was the sixth of ten children. Farm work brought the Reinhardt family to Lexington where Liz graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1942.
On March 4, 1945, Liz married Ross Warner at the First Presbyterian Church in Lexington. They were blessed with three children, Linda, Pamela, and Charles.
Throughout her life, Liz worked at several jobs, but was very proud of the many years she worked at Plum Creek Medical Group as a medical transcriptionist. She began in 1963, and worked 41 years until retiring in 2004.
Liz was an active member of First Presbyterian Church for 78 years. She served as an Elder, Deacon, Clerk of Session, Sunday school teacher, officer of Presbyterian women, church photographer, and ever cheerful volunteer.
Spending time with her family and friends brought Liz her greatest joy! She loved traveling with her kids, having tea parties with her great-grandchildren, playing dominoes, and cards at Shackley. She also loved making pretzels and noodles at the Grand Generation Center, quilting, and dancing. Oh how she loved to polka! Her “Love of Life” will always be remembered!
Liz is lovingly survived by her children; Linda (Terry) Lauby of Lexington, Nebraska, Pamela (Bruce) Robinson of Whale Pass, Alaska, and Charles (Jan) Warner of Castorville, Texas; eight grandchildren; Heidi (Edwin) Markie of Fairfield, California, Jessica (Michael) Bliven of Eaton, Colorado, Tana Rossing of Parker, Colorado; Tristan (Adam) Berkey of Juneau, Alaska, Joshua (Erin) Robinson of Wasilla, Alaska, Desiree (Josh) Pointer of Okinawa, Japan, Charles (Michele) Warner of Austin, Texas, Amanda Warner of Castorville, Texas; and, ten great-grandchildren; Ellery and Adelyn Markie, Terrence and Freya Bliven, Hannah and Kendall Rossing, Chance and Natalee Robinson, and Kenzie and Ryan Pointer; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross; five brothers, John, Alex, Bill, Ed, and George; and, four sisters, Freida, Marie, Irene, and Alice.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Lexington with Reverend Polly Deppen-Williams officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at Lexington.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2016, from 5-7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
